Silver, 1.17 grams, 20.67 mm. 852-858 AD, phase 4, BMC xvii. Obverse: profile portrait with +AEDELVVLF REX legend. Reverse: name on and between limbs of cross +HVNBEA RHTM ON E T A for the moneyer Hunbearht at Canterbury mint. S. 1050; N. 618. Very fine, small edge chip and deliberately pierced at centre, possibly for attachment to a Viking lead weight or gaming king piece? No coins of this moneyer recorded at London on the Early Medieval Coin Corpus at the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge University.
