Very Rare Ancient Imitation of Constantius II 'Votive' Siliqua
Silver, 1.66 grams, 16.41 mm. Imitating Arles. 355-360 AD. Obverse: garbled, sometime retrograde and inverted legend imitating DN CONSTANTIVS PF AVG, pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust right with the bulbous nose and chubby cheeks typical of "unofficial" Gallic mints. Reverse: VOTIS V NVLTIS X (instead of MVLTIS), in four lines within wreath. Mintmark off flan but likely to be TCON or SCON. Imitative of RIC VIII Arles 262/294; Sear -. Very fine/good very fine.
