Copper-alloy, 11.63 grams, 56.41 mm. 8th-9th century AD. A thick cast copper-alloy strap end with a flat attachment plate and D-section body with transverse bands of geometric designs. The decoration is influenced by Anglo-Scandinavian designs, but the animal-head finial is derived from the Anglo-Saxon tradition. Reference: cf. strap end from Wangford in West, S.
