Rare Anglo-Saxon 'Bifacial' Manuscript Clamp
Copper-alloy, 2.72 grams, 38.89 mm. 7th-10th century AD. A bookmark cast as a pair of square-ended 'tweezers' with slight ribbed reinforcement below the loop. The device is held closed by a sliding copper-alloy collar, still present. Reference: cf. metal tweezers in MacGregor, A. & Bolick, E.
