Anglo-Saxon 'Class G' Button Brooch
Copper-alloy, gilt, 4.17 grams, 22.87 mm. 5th-6th century AD. A cast button brooch with the standard form of helmetted face on the central plate, the surrounding flange cast very deep. The catchplate and pin-lug are present on the reverse; remains of gilding on the plate. Similar to a find from Brighthampton. Reference: Avent, R. & Evison, V.I.
