Anglo-Saxon 'Helmeted Head' Button Brooch
Copper-alloy, 2.61 grams, 15.83 mm. 6th century AD. A good Class Eiii cast button brooch with moulded facial features including the eyes, lips, nasal and helmet details. The face is surrounded by a shallow ridge; the outer flange is almost entirely absent. The lug and catchplate are no longer present but their attachment points can be clearly seen on the reverse.
