Gilt Copper-alloy, 3.27 grams, 27.30 mm. 8th century AD. A cast mount, flat in section with high-relief pair of scrolled knotwork panels in Insular Style with lobed ends. Reference: cf. running knotwork on the nasal of the Coppergate helmet published in Webster, L. & Backhouse, J. The Making of England. Anglo-Saxon Art and Culture AD 600-900, London, 1991 item 47.
