Anglo-Saxon 'Quatrefoil' Ansate Brooch
Copper-alloy, 4.39 grams, 32.21 mm. Circa 6th-8th century AD. A cast copper-alloy ansate brooch with short D-section bow, each terminal a quatrefoil with incised saltire motif. To the reverse, the pin-lug and catchplate are in place. Reference: cf. similar items in West. S. A Corpus of Anglo-Saxon Finds From Suffolk, East Anglian Archaeology 84, Ipswich, 1998 brooch from Barham (fig.3(3)). Very fine condition. Provenance: found Cambridgeshire, UK.
