Anglo-Saxon 'Zoomorphic Knotwork' Strap End
Copper-alloy, 8.61 grams, 45.52 mm. 8th-9th century AD. A convex-sided strap end of Class A2 with animal-head finial. The main decorative panel contains a knotwork design with two animal-head terminals in the upper corners. Below the attachment holes is a semicircular panel with palmette motif. Reference: Thomas, G.
