Anglo-Scandinavian 'Faux Twist' Finger Ring
Copper-alloy, 2.41 grams, 23.52 mm (approximate size UK R , USA 8 3/4, Europe 19.0, Japan 18). Circa 10th-11th century AD. A cast copper-alloy finger ring with plain hoop expanding to the thickened upper section with incised barleytwist design imitating the Anglo-Scandinavian twisted-rod form of ring. Reference: cf. twisted-rod ring from the Cuerdale hoard in Smith, R.A. British Museum Guide to Anglo-Saxon Antiquities, reprinted Ipswich, 1993 fig.132. Fine condition.
