Rare Anglo-Scandinavian 'Spoked' Disc Brooch
Copper-alloy and enamel, 7.10 grams, 27.66 mm. 10th-11th century AD. A rare form of Late Saxon or Anglo-Scandinavian disc brooch comprising a central enamel panel surrounded by four radiating knops filled with enamel cabochons (two remaining). The central panel is a light blue enamel background with an inset dark blue panel, with a white enamel centre. The pin-lug and attachment point for the catchplate are in place on the reverse.
