Copper-alloy, 8.61 grams, 33.98 mm. 11th century AD. A cast openwork stirrup mount of lozengiform profile with two circular piercings above the shoilders and two above the base, and two elliptical slots on the shoulders. On the main decorative panel is a looped, knotwork design. The rear ledge and suspension loop are incomplete. Reference: Williams, D. Late Saxon Stirrup-Strap Mounts – A Classification and Catalogue, CBA Research Report 111, Oxford, 1997, p.82 item 379. Very fine condition. Provenance: found Harston, Cambridgeshire, England.
