Baltic Viking 'Herringbone Pattern' Finger Ring
Silver, 2.84 grams, 21.2 mm dia., 17.27 mm height. 10th-11th century AD. A nice example of an eastern Baltic Viking ribbed finger-ring of Lehtosalo-Hilander's Type III.2. The D-sectioned central rib is an extension of the rounded section shank. The decoration on the flanges consists of angled strokes punched in series in alternate directions, with a reserved band between them.
