British Celtic 'Looped' Toggle Fastener
Copper-alloy, 15.03 grams, 26.61 mm. Circa 1st century BC-1st century AD. A cast fitting in the form of an elliptical bulb with flat disc terminals and attachment loop. Such fittings were used as toggles to fasten garments, passing through a slit or loop. Reference: cf. looped variants in Murawski, P. Benet's Artefacts of England and the United Kingdom, Ely, 2003 item I13-0209. Fine condition, complete. Provenance: found Hampshire, England.
