Large Bronze Age Amlash 'Barbed' Socketed Spearhead
Copper alloy, 355 grams, 354 mm. Circa 1200-1100 BC. Type1 spearhead, long ovate blade with curved shoulders and broad midrib; the heavily reinforced shaft develops into a broad, open socket; the split begins below a separate D-shaped ring provided with three curved barbs. Reference: Khorasani, M.M. Arms and Armour from Iran - The Bronze Age to the End of the Qajar Period, Tuebingen, 2006 p.626-9. Very fine condition. Provenance: from an old English collection formed in the 1980's.
