Bronze Age Amlash 'Leaf-Shaped' Short Sword Blade
Copper-alloy, 230 grams, 410 mm. Circa 12th-9th century BC. A broad leaf-shaped blade with a thick, square-section midrib. The top of the blade expands and develops inward-curving lateral flanges; the midrib continues to form a round-section tang; the top of the blade is scooped on either side. Reference: Khorasani, M.M. Arms and Armour from Iran - The Bronze Age to the End of the Qajar Period, Tuebingen, 2006 p.396-7. Very fine condition. Provenance: from an old English collection formed in the 1980's.
