Bronze Age Luristan 'Type IV' Flange-Hilted Dagger
Copper-alloy, 300 grams, 347 mm. Circa 1000 BC. A triangular-bladed dagger with rounded shoulders and a subtle midrib to the blade. The hilt is cast with lateral flanges which contained an organic inset grip on both faces and an elliptical pommel flange. At the upper end of the blade is a crescentic rib flanking the midrib. Provenance: from an old English collection formed in the 1980's.
