Bronze Age Luristan 'Type IV' Flange-Hilted Dagger
Copper-alloy, 475 grams, 442 mm. Circa 1000 BC. A triangular-bladed dagger with rounded shoulders and a pronounced midrib to the blade with inscribed borders. The broad hilt is cast with lateral flanges which contained an organic inset grip on both faces; the upper end of the hilt features a broad pelta-shaped flange. At the upper end of the blade is a penannular rib flanking the midrib. Very fine condition. Provenance: from an old English collection formed in the 1980's.
