Bronze Age Luristan 'Type IV' Flange-Hilted Short Sword
Copper-alloy, 405 grams, 425 mm. Circa 1000 BC. A triangular-bladed short sword with square shoulders and a pronounced midrib to the blade. The hilt is cast with lateral flanges which contained an organic inset grip on both faces. At the upper end of the blade is a penannular rib flanking the midrib. Very fine, uncleaned 'as found' condition. Provenance: from an old English collection formed in the 1980's.
