A cast copper-alloy toggle fastener comprising a square plate, thick shank and open triangular base. The upper face is formed as four cells for champ leve enamel: the design is a saltire with gently curved arms, the enamel alternating red and yellow. Reference: cf. similar toggle fastener with discoid plate from Tuxford, Nottinghamshire, recorded with the PAS under reference DENO-ED2004. Very fine condition. A cast clothes fastener formed as a pierced triangular plate with a D-section right-angled extension terminating in a domed disc with convex underside.
