Copper-alloy, 3.77 grams, 46.76 mm. Circa 1st century BC. Formed from a single length of wire with the spring a a single coil with a small conical terminal at the foot. Reference: Benet's Artefacts of England and the United Kingdom, second edition, page 64. Provenance: found England but from an old French collection. Excellent example with a pleasing patination.
