Very Rare Charles I 'CARA' Richmond Farthing
Copper, 0.64 grams; 17.10 mm. CARA contemporary forgery struck by enemies of the King. Obverse: jeweled crown with Lis mintmark. Reverse: crowned harp with no mintmark. The significance of CARA in place of CARO is that it is a girl’s name and hence an insult to the King. S. 3183A. Very fine/fair. Found near Castle Acre, Norfolk, England.
