Gold, 3.26 grams, 20.78 mm. A stuart period medicinal touchpiece, given by the King and used to cure scrofula (otherwise known as 'the King's Evil' and traditionally cured by the King laying hands on the sufferer) by touching the piece to the skin of the sufferer; undated but circa 1665 AD. Obverse: ship with CAR II D G M B F ET HI REX legend. Reverse: St Michael slaying the dragon with SOLI DEO GLORIA legend. Interesting with heavy use and pierced for suspension as usual.
