Very Rare Cnut 'London Swan' Short Cross Penny
Silver, 1.03 grams, 18.67 mm. Short Cross Type; 1029-1036 AD. Obverse: profile bust with sceptre and +CNVT RECX legend. Reverse: short voided cross with annulet at centre and +SPAN ON LVNDEN legend for the moneyer Swan at the London mint. S. 1159; N. 790. Very fine with only two examples of the moneyer 'Swan' recorded on the Early Medieval Coin Corpus at the Fitzwilliam Museum.
