Commodus (March/April AD 177 - 31st December AD 192)

Lucius Aurelius Commodus, son of Marcus Aurelius and Faustina Junior, was born at Lanunvium in AD 161. He was given the rank of Caesar at the early age of five. The only uprising during his reign, that of northern Britain in the early AD 180's, was easily suppressed. He became insane in later life and was strangled by an athlete hired by his conspirators on the night of December 31st AD 192.
