Constantine I (The Great) 'Sol' Follis
Bronze, 4.83 grams, 23.40 mm. Trier. 310-313 AD. Obverse: CONSTANTINVS PF AVG, laureate and cuirassed bust right. Reverse: SOLI INVIC-TO COMITI, Sol standing left, chlamys draped over upper chest and left shoulder, holding globe and raising right hand, T-F across fields. Mintmark PTR in exergue. RIC VI Trier 873; cf Sear 3868. Note: The difference between this coin and the scarcer, later, but visually identical RIC VII Trier 42 version, lies in the longer radiate spikes on Sol's crown and the slightly lighter weight of the later version.
