Early Medieval 'Strap End' Buckle
Copper-alloy, 10.78 grams, 46.03 mm long. Early medieval; circa 12th century AD. A complete example of an early medieval strap end buckle, with plate bow and pin all preserved. The plate having a simple border line decoration with traces of gilding and three rivets; two for attaching the bow and the third to affix the buckle to a leather strap. The simple bow and pin are fully functional. Good very fine condition.
