Early Anglo-Saxon 'Type 70 Variety E' Sceatta
Silver, 1.08 grams, 12.06 mm. Secondary Series, Type 70, Variety E; 600-775 AD. Obverse: standard with saltire and pellets within, 'V' above, three pellets below and pellet-ended lines to each side. Reverse: standard with annulet at centre, two each pellet-ended 'V' symbols and two diagonal lines within and a small cross externally to each side. S. 835; N. ?; Metcalf page 533. Good extremely fine, as struck and very attractive.
