Scarce Edward III 'York Mint' Long Cross Penny
Silver, 0.93 grams, 17.11 mm. Post Treaty Period; 1369-1377 AD. Obverse: crowned facing bust with legend +EDWARDVS REX ANGLIE with a pellet in each angle of the initial cross. Reverse: long cross with quatrefoil at centre and three pellets in each quadrant dividing legend CIVI TAS EBOR ACI for the mint at York. S. -; N. 1295; see Doubleday Lot 666 for a very similar example (possibly a die duplicate). A scarce variant, fine on an abraded flan.
