Scarce Edward IV 'London Mint' Groat
Silver, 2.87 grams, 25.25 mm. First Reign, Light Coinage, Type V; 1464-1470 AD. Obverse: crowned facing bust with quatrefoil each side of neck with legend EDWARD DI GRA REX ANGL FRANC with 'Rose' mintmark. Reverse: long cross with three pellets in each quadrant plus a small extra pellet in the CIVI quarter dividing outer and inner legends POSVI DEVM ADIVTORE MEVM with same mintmark and CIVI TAS LON DON for the mint of London with a small fleur after TAS. S. -; N. 1567. Fine and scarce.
