Egyptian 'Amphora' Saite Period Amulet
Faience, 0.39 grams, 12.28 mm. Saite Period 664-525 BC. A dark green amulet in the shape of an amphora or vase which symbolized libations poured for the dead. Made with a transverse piercing for suspension. Reference: Andrews, C. Amulets of Ancient Egypt, London, 1994, p.94-5. Very fine condition. Provenance: from an old English collection.
