Egyptian 'Anubis' Amulet
Glazed powdered quartz composite (faience), 0.51 grams, 16.72 mm. Saite Period 664-525 BC. A pale blue amulet of Anubis, the jackal-headed god of embalming who had to be propitiated to ensure entry into the afterlife. Made with a loop behind the shoulders and transverse piercing for suspension. Reference: Andrews, C. Amulets of Ancient Egypt, London, 1994, p.24. Fine condition.
