Faience, 0.76 grams, 16.71 mm. New Kingdom, circa 1550-1070 BC. A pale green amulet featuring a baboon sitting on its hauches, a symbol of the god Thoth, associated with writing. Made with a transverse piercing for suspension. Reference: Andrews, C. Amulets of Ancient Egypt, London, 1994, fig.24. Very fine condition. Provenance: from an old English collection.
