Egyptian 'Bes' Amulet
Faience, 0.73 grams, 15.74 mm. New Kingdom, Eighteenth dynasty, 1500-1292 BC. A pale green amulet of Bes, the dwarf god with his plumed headdress depicted by the corrugated top. Bes was the protector in childbirth and is therefore associated with women and children. Made with a transverse piercing for suspension. Reference: Andrews, C.
