Egyptian 'Bes' Amulet
Faience, 0.83 grams, 19.70 mm. New Kingdom, Eighteenth dynasty, 1500-1292 BC. A pale green amulet of Bes, the dwarf god with his plumed headdress depicted by the corrugated top. Bes was favoured by women and children. Made with a transverse piercing for suspension. Reference: Andrews, C. Amulets of Ancient Egypt, London, 1994, pl.27. Very fine condition.
