Egyptian 'Epigraphic' Shabti
Glazed powdered quartz composite (faience), 34.54 grams, 106.60 mm. Late Period, circa 664-525 BC. A finely proportioned shabti in pale blue and olive-green faience. The feet rest on a square plinth which extends as a square-section post along the back of the body to the neck. The figure depicts a male mummy with hairpiece and plaited beard, grasping the hoe and flail in his crossed hands. The lower body and legs bear a hieroglyphic inscription. Reference: see Stewart, H.
