Egyptian 'Osiris' Statuette
Copper-alloy, 20.78 grams, 71.38 mm. Late Period circa 664-525 BC. A cast bronze of Osiris depicted wearing the atef crown and carrying the symbolic crook and flail, attributes which he inherited after ousting the previous god, Andjety. The amulet has no suspension ring but is provided with a tang beneath the feet for mounting. Reference: Andrews, C. Amulets of Ancient Egypt, London, 1994, p.47. Very fine condition.
