Egyptian 'Serekh' Amulet
Faience, 0.66 grams, 26.18 mm. 12th to 19th Dynasties, circa 1991-1279 BC. A dark green bead of elliptical form, open at the reverse, similar to a serekh or name-announcer for the dead, pierced horizontally and vertically. Reference: Flinders Petrie, W.M. Amulets Illustrated by the Egyptian Collection in University College, London, London, reprinted 1994, p.21 class 77. Very fine condition. Provenance: from an old English collection.
