Egyptian 'Shu' Amulet
Faience, 0.72 grams, 16.64 mm. Saite 26th Dynasty, circa 664-525 BC. A pale turquoise amulet featuring Shu, kneeling with arms upraised supporting a sun-disc above. Shu was responsible for raising Nut, the sun, and supporting her in the air. Made with a transverse piercing for suspension. Reference: Andrews, C. Amulets of Ancient Egypt, London, 1994, p.19.
