Egyptian 'Sow' Amulet
Glazed powdered quartz composite (faience), 1.72 grams, 17.55 mm. Third Intermediate Period 1069-702 BC. A pale blue amulet of a sow with characteristic arched back and dangling teats. The sow was among the animals sacrificed to Osiris annually and represented the night sky with its litter of stars. Made with a transverse piercing in the upper block for suspension.
