Egyptian 'Wedjat Eye' Amulet
Faience, 0.35 grams, 14.65 mm. 11th-10th century BC. 3rd Intermediate Period (21st-25th Dynasties). The wedjat is the eye of the falcon-headed god, Horus, son of Osiris and the creator deity; the god's eyes are associated with the sun and moon. The piece is in two-tone faience, red-brown on a pale green surface, with a plain reverse and transverse piercing. The pupil is a raised disc of the same red-brown material. Reference: Andrews, C.
