Egyptian 'Wedjat Eye' Amulet
Glazed powdered quartz composite (faience), 0.68 grams, 15.38 mm. 11th-10th century BC. 3rd Intermediate Period (21st-25th Dynasties). The wedjat is the symbolic eye of the god, Horus, son of Osiris and the creator deity; the god's eyes are associated with the sun and moon. The piece is in two-tone faience, beige-brown on a creamy-white surface, with a plain reverse and transverse piercing. The pupil is a raised disc of the same brown material. Reference: Andrews, C.
