Egyptian 'Wedjat Eye' Amulet
Glazed powdered quartz composite (faience), 0.22 grams, 9.57 mm. 11th-10th century BC. 3rd Intermediate Period (21st-25th Dynasties). The wedjat is the symbolic eye of the god, Horus, son of Osiris and the creator deity; the god's eyes are associated with the sun and moon. The piece is in deep blue faience, with black linear detail to the brow and pupil, and transverse piercing. Reference: Andrews, C. Amulets of Ancient Egypt, London, 1994, p.44. Very fine condition.
