English Neolithic ‘Pecked and Ground’ Axe-Hammer
Rhyolite, 358 grams, 830 mm. Circa 3,000 BC. A battle axe-hammer in a rhyolite, deeply patinated to an attractive light grey-green, with a rectangular hammer face and an expanding blade, central cylindrical hafting hole skilfully drilled, nicely finished, shows interesting signs of use in antiquity on blade and hammer.
