Greek Apulian 'Wave Motif' Black-Glazed Kantharoid Krater
Ceramic, 35.04 grams, 59.47 mm across handles. An Apulian black-glazed kantharoid krater with bi-conical body with rounded middle section mounted upon flared foot base; short bowl shaped mouth flanked by twin high arched strap handles, decorated in red ochre with on the shoulder with a band of wave motifs with two lines underneath. Very fine condition, small chip to base. Provenance: from an old English collection, found Apulia, Magna Graecia, South-eastern Italy in the 19th century.
