Ghandaran 'Prince Siddhartha' Sculpture
Schist, 210 grams; 151.39 mm. Circa 1st - 2nd Century B.C. The standing figure of Prince Siddhartha, the first Buddha, He is shown standing wearing drapery and an elaborate head piece, a superb representation of Prince Siddhartha, the Buddha, prior to his enlightenment. Typical of Gandharan sculptures of the period are the arched eyebrows; almond shaped half-closed eyes, and an undulating moustache. Siddhartha was born 563 B.C. as a prince, he abandoned his inheritance in order to dedicate his life to learning how to overcome suffering, later discovering what Buddhists calls the Middle Way-a path of moderation. Lower right arm and feet missing, upper disc with small repaire. Beautiful, striking and Rare.

Greek 'Herms' Lock Plate 1000

Very Rare Greek 'Herms' Lock Plate
Copper-alloy, 56.53 grams, 92.68 x 83.67 mm. Circa 7th - 6th century BC. The silvered plate decorated with incised dot decoration, the two attachments in the form of female herms clad in a tight fitting layered garment, their chests bare, with their right arms raised and double loops behind to hold them in place, remains of iron fixings and a decorated rejoined knob at each corner. Ex Bonham's lot 523; ex Pullen collection. Smart and interesting piece.

A large moustached face probably from a freeze, with heavily set features surmounted by ornate crown an ornate emblem, most likely a representation of Prince Siddhartha, the Buddha, prior to his enlightenment. Typical of Gandharan sculptures of the period are the arched eyebrows; almond shaped half-closed eyes, and an undulating moustache. Extremely Rare Ancient Greek 'Aphrodite' Gold Ring
Gold, 9.74 grams; 22.74 mm. Internal 19.00 mm; US size 9.5, UK size S. Circa 3rd BC. Thick set solid band with tapered out stepping shoulders that connect to a large hexagonal bezel engraved with the bust of Aphrodite facing left wearing turreted crown. Her hair is dressed across the front of the crown and down the side of her face with curled ends, an image of Aphrodite often found on Greek coinage of this period. Ref: Victoria and Albert Museum Catalogue of Rings 1930, plate II. A rare and beautiful ring in extremely fine condition that was worn regularly by its previous owner. Ex K Thomas collection.

Stone, 55.63 grams; 71.93 mm. Circa 1st millennium BC. A dark stone carved mould for casting bronze arrowheads. Double sided with a different shape on either side this mould would have probably been used with several other moulds in a rack to cast multiple pieces in one pour.
