Greek Apulian 'Lady of Fashion' Black-Glazed Oinochoe
Ceramic, 140 grams, 134.31 mm. Circa 4th century BC. An Apulian oinochoe or wine-jug in black glaze with a single looped handle, scrolled rim, bulbous belly and stepped foot, with red and white slip decoration on the belly comprising a palmette on the reverse and female head with carefully detailed headdress and earrings on the front, and geometric motifs between. Extremely fine condition, complete. Provenance: from an old English collection, found Apulia, Magna Graecia, South-eastern Italy.
