Very Rare Iceni 'Celtic Head Face/Horse' Silver Unit
Silver, 1.07 grams; 14.88 mm. Circa 20-15 BC. Icenian Type E. Obverse: Celticized head right, head about the same size as the flan, eye comprised of rectangular box with line in centre, no ear, 'coffee bean' for mouth, hair comprised of herring-bone pattern of lines. Reverse: Celticized horse right, ring-and-pellet motifs above, below and in front of horse. Celtic Coin Index Registration Number at Oxford University: 08.9717. VA 665-7. Classified by Van Arsdell as extremely rare. Good fine/very fine. Found Norfolk.
