Iron Age Gaul ‘Lingones’ Celtic Cast Potin Bronze Unit
Potin, 2.98 grams, 18.33 mm. Circa 1st century BC. Obverse: three-armed whorl. Reverse: three revolving beasts. The Lingones were a Celtic tribe that originally lived in Gaul in the area of the headwaters of the Seine and Marne rivers. The Lingones capitol was called Andematunnum, then Lingones, and now Langres. Old collector’s ticket included. Reference: Allen 410. Good very fine for the series. Ex DNW 28/9/05; found Langres, Aube.
