Obverse: profile bust right holding orb and sceptre with legend IACOBVS D G MAG BRITT FRAN ET HIB REX and a ‘Plain Cross’ mintmark. Reverse: shield of arms with ‘I’ to left, ‘R’ to right and crown over with legend FACIAM EOS IN GENTEM UNAM (I will make them one nation). S. 2619; N. 2085. A small repaired piercing does not detract from the intricate design and detailing of this type. Very fine and better.
